FAQ
The key questions about how it works
Everything about matching, choosing a therapist, data protection and the initial consultation, clearly laid out.
Taking the matching questionnaire
That is fine. There are no wrong answers in the matching questionnaire. Every answer helps us suggest therapists who suit you.
While you fill in the questionnaire, your answers stay on your device. If you stop, they are not sent to us. Only when you register do we store them in your account, end-to-end encrypted. From then on, only you and the therapists you are in contact with can read them.
Choosing a therapist
Our therapists apply to us. Our team speaks personally with every therapist to make sure we can offer a diverse and highly qualified selection.
Our therapists are required to file proof of their qualifications with us. At minimum, that is the state licence (Approbation) to practise as a psychotherapist. Our team reviews all documents carefully before admitting a therapist to our platform.
Registering with us
The content of your conversations with your therapist and your therapy data are covered by medical confidentiality. Only your therapist can see your therapy data.
All communication between you and your therapist is protected by highly secure end-to-end encryption. Even by the highest medical standards, Therapy Lift is exceptionally strongly encrypted.
Meeting your therapist
No. The therapist will not ask you questions about your concern. The call is solely there to find out whether the chemistry between you is right. Thanks to the matching system, you can be sure your therapist is fundamentally suited to your concern.
Your first three initial consultations are free. In most cases the first call is already a fit, so another one is not needed. If the first call is not quite right, you are welcome to book another.
No. Our experience shows that more than three initial consultations rarely lead to therapy. If after the third call you are still unsure which therapist is right, we recommend going with your gut feeling.
No. If you are not entirely sure you have found your therapist, you can meet the next therapist and then make your decision.
Yes. Via the messenger you can reach your therapist between the initial consultation and the first session. Please note that not all therapists have the messenger enabled between initial consultations.
Starting the first session
Therapy at Therapy Lift begins on average three days after the initial consultation with the right therapist. There is no rule for the ideal time to start. You decide the next steps together with your therapist.
The first session is part of the so-called probationary phase (Probatorik), which comprises at least two and at most five sessions. You usually tell your therapist more about your concern and about yourself as a person. That helps ease you into therapy.
A session lasts one hour. The conversation itself ends after 50 minutes; the remaining 10 minutes are for the therapist to document the session.
The duration is individual and depends on your needs. According to the latest research, a noticeable improvement sets in after 10 to 12 sessions. Our psychotherapists make a point of getting you to your goal as quickly as possible. Even so, you are always welcome back with your therapist after therapy.
