Does my private insurance cover the costs?

Yes. All private health insurers cover the costs of psychotherapy, including by video. As a private patient you receive an invoice according to the German fee schedules for medical and psychotherapeutic services (GOÄ/GOP), as in any private practice, and submit it to your private health insurer. A session in short-term therapy is usually billed at €167.58. How much is reimbursed and how many sessions are covered depends on your plan. A look at your policy terms or a quick call to your insurer will tell you.
